tis the season to turn 21

well for the past few weeks my saturday nights have been consistently filled up by 21sts. after a rush of them late last year, followed by a two-ish month lull, lately it seems like they're back with a vengeance. clearly february is a popular birth month.

though is turned the big 2-1 in july last year, due to sickness my big birthday bash was postponed indefinitely. and the longer it was put off, the less excited i was about it. but now, as i'm starting to feel better, and get out and about more, the event to celebrate my coming-of-age has returned to the forefront of my mind. it's party time!

as half my friends seem to be jetting off overseas from june onwards, and there are multiple weekends already booked for 21sts in may, it seems the big bash will take place mid april. i've decided on the theme of 'op shop chic' - where second-hand clothing is a must. while some of my friends have turned up their noses at the concept of wearing pre-loved pieces, i figure it's
the perfect antithesis to the barrage of cocktail parties which require attendees to go out and buy yet another dress (because they can't be seen wearing the same outfit on multiple occasions! shock horror!). plus, as an op-shop devotee, it is a perfect excuse to go out hunting through racks of clothing for hidden treasures :)

now i've almost definitely settled on a date, there's a lot to plan:

  • food
  • tab
  • photography (that's what older brothers are for)
  • playlist
  • slideshows
  • invitations
  • guestlist
etc...

seeing as it's pouring down with rain, and i'm no longer required to volunteer at the LMFF office today, i'd say it's the perfect day to get stuck into the preparation.

and just because i like photos, i've attached some pics from recent 21sts below. enjoy.

oh summer.

it's HOT and i'm SWELTERING

busy busy

muchos apologies for lack of posts of late.

been busier than usual, i'm back doing volunteering at the fashion festival office. and loving it! occasionally when i'm on a long errand on the other side of the city i sympathise with anne hathaway's character in the devil wears prada, but they're the loveliest group of women so i really can't complain. with only a couple of weeks until the festival, the pressure is mounting in the office, so there's a lot for me to do! i find out today if i'll be helping out with the running of the events during the week of the festival, or back in the office still. i hope i can get more hands on, there'll be so much fashion perving and celebrity spotting and it'll generally just be fun to shake things up a bit! so many great events are planned as part of the festival, check out the website for the full program.
