Pros and Cons of Winter's Arrival

ie mixed feelings about winter coming... happy to embrace cooler weather and cosy clothing, but sad to leave behind summer freedom and cute wardrobe

would you listen to what i have to say?

it's nearly 1am, and i'm so tired that my head keeps flopping and my eyelids drooping, but i'm so full of inspiration that i don't want to go to bed.

i had a girly catch up today with my best girl friends from school. muchos laughs, tears and fatty foods all round. but after the others left, i hung around with my best friend han discussing our interests and careers and hobbies. basically i live by the philosophy that whatever makes you happiest should somehow become your career. if you don't enjoy going to work the majority of the time, it's the wrong path for you. life is short, and being stuck in a job you hate, while justifying it by saying it pays a lot, is just plain sad. and your priorities are out of whack. but that's just my opinion.

but anyway, we were discussing our interests, and how we're both really interested in having a job that involves creativity. i'm looking to get into something involving events/fashion/publications/marketing and han is looking into writing/production design/curating. and after both admitting we would love to work on some sort of creative, cultural publication, it got us thinking, that we could produce some form of publication/project of our own. something that would provide us with an outlet for our creative sides. and more importantly, something to do now that we've both finished our degrees and are basically hanging out doing not a hell of a lot between shifts at work.

so now we brainstorm.

i'm so excited at the idea, but to be honest a little worried we won't be taken seriously, and no-one will be interested in what we provide. we don't want to look like try hards. we just want to put something out there that people like us will enjoy reading - something that provides a different viewpoint to ponder, something creative to admire, or a giggle after a hard day.

it has to be just right.

kate hudson = ♥

another of my style icons is the totally underrated kate hudson. i adore her. in my opinion, she never puts a step wrong. even when she's photographed doing errands in casual jeans and a hoodie, or a maxi skirt and singlet, she always stays true to her very relaxed, back-to-nature style. on the red carpet, she is always glowing and beautiful, without looking like she's tried to hard. she is just so natural that i can't help but admire her. plus the fact that she has proven time and time again that flat-chested woman can be stunning too, haha. which i suppose is again a testament to her natural-ness (yes i make up words) - she doesn't need to resort to surgical enhancement to impress.

she has clearly worked out how to enhance her assets, with long flowing strapless gowns being a regular choice. the patterned, bohemian red one is probably one of the most amazing dresses i have ever seen at a red carpet event. and how many people can pull of a yellow dress like she does in the final image? this is reminiscent of the stunning gown she wears at the end of 'how to lose a guy in ten days'. the lilac lacy dress has long been a favourite of mine also.

fashion aside, she also seems like one of the most down-to-earth and friendly stars in hollywood. she's one of the girls or one of the boys, and is always spotted out riding her bike or surfing. in short, she is, in my opinion, the postergirl for what women should aspire to.

Missoni in Waiting

a fashionista that i have admired for a really long time is missoni ambassador and heiress margherita missoni. the 24 year old is firstly, in my opinion, naturally stunning. i'd be quite happy to have her beautiful tanned skin and long, dark, wavy hair. but on top of that, i love her modern bohemian style. unlike so many young women in the media spotlight, she doesn't follow trends, but upholds her own personal look. her outfits are often quirky, and always feminine and classy. i suppose it does help to have access to a high-end designer wardrobe... though stars like lindsay lohan and paris hilton are living proof that it takes more than money and access to become a fashion icon.

too late.

don't you hate it when something you've paid full price for goes on sale?
